That’s exactly what nowadays company Tesla did. Forget every common routine regarding car electronics and software and invent it from scratch.
Now it seems that this shows up as a major advantage, compared to the traditional Volkswagen, Mercedes, BMW & Co. competition. They still stick with their long time build software and electronics concepts. It seems that they are a kind of Edison, not letting go of his DC current instead of seeing the advantage in the AC world. Tesla is using a new one control unit systems whereas the traditional automotives still stick to their everything needs a control unit. Also, the way Tesla is handling software updates is fundamentally different. Having a problem with your e.g. Audi leads you directly into the garage. At Tesla, you simply call the garage and they assign you an update “over the air”. The traditional automotives need to rethink their strategy and see the modern car rather as a modern mobile device and not as the one time build lasts forever unit.
